We were so happy to have found TrashN2Tees, a great organization that focuses on recycling clothing, raising awareness, and taking action to divert waste from landfills. We’re also very excited to be collaborating with them for our February Discovery Box!
Usually, we think more about packaging, durable goods and food waste as the major contributors to the landfills, but clothing makes up a surprisingly large amount of trash too. According to Earth 911, “the average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing each year, and 98% of clothing thrown in landfills can be recycled!” TrashN2Tees has diverted more than 20 tons of clothing from the landfill since starting their work in 2010.
TrashN2Tees has launched a Clothing Recycling Program in Northern Kentucky where you can donate your clothing at a recycling facility. They also have a way for you to host your own recycling event which you can find out about here.
As a fellow creative spirit, Jenelle, the owner of TrashN2Tees, has her own Etsy shop where she designs clothing. All the designs are original, hand cut, and made using 100% reclaimed materials.
We are ecstatic to have TrashN2Tees collaborating with us for our February Discovery Box. To learn more about the company, check out their Esty Shop, Facebook, Twitter and Blog.
